We provide short, intensive training courses. We work with very small numbers in each training group to provide a more student focused learning environment. We work with very experienced tutors with vast personal knowledge of working within the industry. We work only from our own training centres which are purposely and permanently set up to deliver a high standard of training.
Our courses offer a flexible route to study, to achieve your career goals and our dedicated Support Team offer assistance by email or telephone, even beyond your training days.
Each training day begins with a short introduction on health and safety with the remainder of the day focused on hands on practice and acquiring of the skills to deliver treatments.
You will receive practical training course notes within your booking confirmation email, which you are welcome to print and take along to the training to make personal notes (if desired, not compulsory) or use at home to refresh your knowledge after your training days
For those wishing to go on to achieve VTCT or City & Guilds qualifications, your coursework is completed from home within your own time, giving you flexibility to practice and prepare for assessment days.

Many of our students gain discount cards with leading beauty wholesalers and cosmetic brands following completion of our training courses using The Beauty Academy diploma or the qualification certificate (e.g. VTCT diploma) as proof of completion of their course. However we can accept no responsibility and have no control over individual student eligibility or availability of these discounts. This is entirely at the discretion of the supplier/wholesaler as we are in no way affiliated with any particular supplier as all courses are generic and non-brand specific.

All courses are available to book quickly & securely 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through our website.
Payment is taken in full at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, unless taking advantage of Finance to spread the cost. To enquire about Finance, please visit our payment plan calculator: Deko Finance Plans or call us on Freephone 0800 999 2277.
You can quickly & securely book training courses on our website at any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All Last Minute Offers are bookable through our website at any time.
Courses booked outside of office hours will be confirmed on the next working day. Should you book a course outside of office hours scheduled for the next day, simply attend the training centre on that day for 9.45am & take along your automated payment receipt email as proof of your booking. Please note however in such cases, training is subject to an available training place on the day. Should the course be full, you will be offered the next available date for the same course/venue, at the same price paid.
Telephone bookings can only be made Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm.
All course fees including City & Guilds, VTCT & BABTAC fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
In the event of a genuine reason for non-attendance or cancellation (proof of which may be required), a request for transfer to an alternative training date or course may be considered at the discretion of The Beauty Academy. A transfer fee of £50 per training date will apply to reschedule, or a medical certificate (for the named student only) will be required to waive this fee. Last Minute Offer courses can only be rescheduled with approval from The Beauty Academy and will always be subject to the rescheduling fee of £50 per training date. Training courses must be taken within 6 months from the original date of booking, after which time any course fee credit will expire.
Should you be unable to attend, please notify us in writing to [email protected] at least 72 hours prior to the booked training course. Failing to notify us with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice, may result in forfeit of all course fees paid dependent on the circumstances.
Should you become unable to attend on the day of training itself, please call us as soon as possible after 9.00am, on 0333 800 7700 for assistance (local rate charges may apply). Please note on the weekends, this will come through to our out of hours’ team who are only available from 9.00am – 11.00am. Outside of these times, please leave a voicemail message clearly giving your name and telephone number and one of our team will come back to you within 24 hours.
In the event that the Beauty Academy need to cancel your course for reasons beyond of our control, i.e. student cancellations leading to insufficient numbers of students or any other reasons beyond our control; The Beauty Academy will endeavour to give students at least 24 hours’ notice of any cancellation by telephone and/or email.
The Academy is not responsible for any accommodation/travelling costs students may incur due to the cancellation of courses.

Where possible we seek to include students with special requirements within our main course delivery. However for some students this may not be possible. Many students with special training needs prefer and gain the most benefit from tailored training on a one to one basis.
Feasibility depends upon the course you are wishing to study; however where possible adjustments or special arrangements will be considered. Please note an additional cost will apply for training on a one to one basis. This can only be offered where discussed prior to booking your course, as we may need to make adjustments to the training day or special arrangements at the centre to support you for which we may require advance notice.
All courses are taught in English & given the fast track nature of our courses, students will require a good command of spoken and written English language in order to achieve and demonstrate the course requirements. We are unable to accomodate students with a translator on our standard training days as this can be disuptive for other learners due to the fast pace of our training, however we may be able to arrange one to one training for you at an additional cost if deemed required. Please discuss this with the Advisor before booking as refunds cannot be given where a student is unable to participate fully within the training day(s) due to reasons and/or fails to achieve the diploma, where not disclosed at the time of booking.
All students are required to give and receive treatments on training days. Any medical conditions which may prevent this should be disclosed in confidence at the time of booking. We reserve the right to request a medical certificate or letter from your GP to confirm your suitability to participate within the course/receive treatments prior to booking, or prior to course attendance. This is required due to our legal and insurance obligations. We are unable to accept students who are under 12 weeks pregnant or over 32 weeks pregnant for face to face practical training courses or on practical assessment days, for health & safety reasons. Students must not have received any cosmetic procedures to include skin fillers, surgery or micro blading in the 12 weeks prior to attending for training where the area treated will be expected to be worked upon as part of the training course. This is to comply with our insurance obligations, but also to ascertain which course or training option may be most suitable for you. A female model must be provided by the student where medical conditions prevent receiving treatment. Models do not complete the course effectively, and so would not receive any diploma(s).
Training days may involve mixed sex groups. Those with religious or personal reasons where they require a same sex training environment only, should discuss this with the Advisor before booking. We can usually accommodate this with notice, though this might not be upon the next scheduled training date. Male students are required to provide a female model for waxing courses.
You should arrive for 9.45am to start at 10.00am and will finish at approximately 4.00pm with a short break for lunch. Students should take along cold food (e.g. sandwich or salad) for lunch, no hot food is permitted. We recommend students remain within the centre during break periods to ensure they resume from breaks promptly. Late arrival (after 9.45am) or late return from agreed breaks is very disruptive for other students, breaching our Student Code of Conduct.
If you return late from agreed breaks you may be refused further entry and be unable to complete your course. If you arrive more than 30 minutes late (after 10.15am); you will be unable to participate in the training, resulting in a £50 transfer fee for a rescheduled date. Please therefore ensure you allow sufficient time for travel to the centre & make use of navigation tools such as the map/directions on our website to guide your journey.
Should you be having difficulties in finding the training centre, please refer to Map & Directions to our training centres or Google Maps.

If you are going to run late for your training, please ensure you contact us before 10.00am. Outside of these times, please leave a voicemail message clearly giving your name and telephone number and one of our team will come back to you within 24 hours.
For hygiene purposes, please bring along one clean hand towel and one clean bath towel for your personal use during the course. Should you forget your towels, they will be available to purchase at the Academy for £15.
You will also be required to take your lunch with you (no hot food), tea and coffee is available free of charge. Please avoid bringing unnecessary valuables to the training centre for security reasons, The Beauty Academy can accept no responsibility for any items taken to or left at the training centre, please ensure you take all belongings with you at the end of each training day.
No products or tools need to be brought to face to face practical training days as these will be provided at the centre on training days. The only exception to this is on the Lash Lift & Tinting course where you must bring your Lash Lift patch test products as posted to your home address & on Practical Assessment days where the required products/tools list will be provided to you prior to attendance.
You should ideally wear a professional beauty tunic. Otherwise smart-casual, clean clothing should be worn. Please note no jeans should be worn. Please no trainers, sandals, flip flops, high heels or Ugg style boots. You should wear clean flat shoes with covered toes & closed in heels. Please ensure you are suitably dressed to give and receive treatments.
Long hair should be tied back, away from the face. You should have clean, short nails which should be free of polish/nail extensions. You should be free of eyelash extensions for all courses where you will be working on the face. For hair removal (waxing), you must be willing to give and receive treatments on all areas covered. It is a requirement of the course that all students allow hair growth of 0.05cm in all areas to be treated (dependent on natural hair growth patterns). This is to ensure fairness to all students, to allow equal opportunity to practice.
Please ensure you leave all valuables at home, including any jewellery as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables at the training centre. You should not wear more than one wedding band and one pair of plain stud earrings.
For the qualifications (VTCT/City & Guilds), you will require professional uniform on all assessment days which is a compulsory requirement. Uniform consists of a beauty tunic (short sleeves, any colour/style), smart fitted trousers and flat closed toe/heel shoes.
Some local authorities now require the qualifications (VTCT/City & Guilds) for licencing purposes for business premises. Qualifications are evidence of your professionalism in the industry and are usually required to gain employment within a salon.
Qualifications are not necessarily required should you wish to work from home or mobile, however they are recommended in case your future career plans should change.
Students are responsible for checking the local authority requirements in their area before booking, to ensure their chosen course fits the requirements.
We also offer BABTAC accredited courses which are excellent for those who wish to work from home or mobile, but provide the assurance of their high quality training to clients with a widely recognised industry certificate. Generally, NVQ & VRQ qualifications are regarded as a nationally & internationally recognised qualification of similar equivalence, through the awarding body VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust). They are generally acknowledged as the required certification to gain employment within a salon, spa, cruise ship etc. Some employers may favour a particular qualification, however both require similar amounts of home study and assessment.
To achieve a VTCT qualification, you will complete training, home study (theory & practical) and then attend for 1 day of written assessment plus 1-3 days of practical assessment (dependent on the qualification).
BABTAC accredited certificates provide an excellent option for those who wish to hold an industry recognised certificate that not only enables them to work from home or mobile, but also demonstrates their high level of professionalism and skill. BABTAC programmes involve practical training and home study but does not require attendance of any assessment days.
For VTCT qualification courses, you will be a welcome email within 24 hours of enrolling upon your programme. This will allow you to access your study and coursework materials.
You should save copies of these files for your future reference and completion. Theory work can be completed on your computer by referring to the Student Study Guide provided along with your coursework and emailed as an attachment to [email protected] once completed for marking.
Should you encounter issues in accessing the files, please ensure you are using a pc/laptop compatible with PDF reader. Please ensure you are running the latest version of PDF reader which can be downloaded safely and for free from www.adobe.com
You will also be required to practice following training and carry out treatments from home (10-12 treatments for each unit being studied) as detailed in your Practical Assignment (part of your coursework pack sent by email). You will need to ensure you organise models (friends/family/clients) to practice upon at home.
You will require access to basic products/tools at home (and for practical assessment days) in order to complete required treatments for which students must cover this cost. Starter kits are available to purchase from our website or from any beauty supplier of your choosing.
You will need to collate the required evidence for your treatments (consultation form, feedback form and photographs) in a ring binder folder as this is required by the Awarding Body. Once all treatments are completed, you should submit your portfolio by posting to Cambridge Head Office using Special Delivery.
Receipt of work is acknowledged by email within 48 hours of receipt and feedback will be sent by email within 21 days of submission.
Once you have completed all of the coursework, you will be invited back to The Beauty Academy for assessment(s). Assessments are available at our London Kings Cross, Manchester, Birmingham & Cambridge training centres only. Assessments are available on set scheduled weekdays each month only.
You must ensure you revise thoroughly before attending for assessments and continue to practice your treatments up until you attend for practical assessment to keep your skills up to date in preparation for your assessments. Occasionally additional treatment evidence may be requested to update your Practical Assignment portfolio if there is a delay in your arranging assessments, to demonstrate you are continuing to practice your skills. Additional fees apply should you need to retake your training again prior to attending assessments. Students are required to arrange a different female model for each practical assessment day. Should you need to retake or rearrange a confirmed assessment day, an additional fee of £100 + VAT will apply per day required. Where retakes of written assessments are required, this is possible for a charge of £20 + VAT per exam paper. Written assessment results are confirmed by email within 7 days of attending your exam day. Written assessments must be completed before practical assessment days can be arranged.
Once all assessment days are complete, we will claim for your qualification certificate from the awarding body which can take up to 12 weeks to be issued. We will notify you by email when posting this out to you.
Everyone is different however the recommended guidelines are 12-20 weeks to complete and submit your coursework towards a VTCT Qualification. Bear in mind this is flexible study so much of this of the programme is completed from the convenience of home. Following this, you will be invited to arrange assessment days.
If you require further time to complete coursework, this is acceptable provided the treatments submitted within your portfolio are current and completed within the last 20 weeks from the date of submission. Where treatments fall outside of the last 20 weeks, you may be required to submit some additional treatments or resubmit your portfolio before you can progress to the assessment days. This is to ensure you have kept your knowledge and skills up to date in order to be successful in completing the assessment days. Portfolios are retained at Head Office for a maximum of 12 months, Should you portfolio become available or be required to be returned to you, you will be notified by email and asked to confirm your preference for return or disposal within 14 days. After which time they will be disposed of through confidential waste without any further contact.
All students have 12 months from the date of enrolment within which to complete their qualification including training, coursework and assessment as recommended by the Awarding Bodies. Our programmes are flexible to work around you, while still providing a fast track option to begin working within the industry.
Our Academy Level 2 programmes include BABTAC accredited unit certificates are ideal for those who wish to work from home or mobile but would like to have the backing of a widely recognised industry certificate to give additional reassurance to your clients of your high quality training and professionalism. Once enrolled, you will attend practical training days and be sent details to access on our online Student Portal to complete your multiple choice theory assignments and a small number of treatments at home on friends and family. You will receive The Beauty Academy diploma for each practical training day completed within 2 days of attending each; and will receive your BABTAC accredited unit certificates within 8 weeks of all coursework being confirmed as completed. All students have up to 12 months to complete their Academy Level 2 programme (with BABTAC accredited units) but most students will complete within 8-12 weeks.
Our Online courses are ideal for those who wish to develop new skills for personal interest, to provide treatments to friends/family or gain insurance to offer treatments to paying clients from home or mobile. It is also great as a first step towards further courses or for existing therapists as continuing professional development (CPD) to update your skills. Students have 8 weeks to complete our Online courses. Upon enrolment, you will be sent details to access our Online Student Portal where you will find comprehensive training manuals, video tutorials and multiple choice theory tests to complete. You will also need to complete a small number of treatments on friends or family at home to complete your course. Practical work will be evaluated by an Assessor and feedback and/or your certificate issued by email within 5 working days of submission.
Should you require any assistance with your coursework, following your training days; please feel free to contact our Support Team, available Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm. Following your practical training, you will be emailed The Beauty Academy Diploma Certificate within 2 working days which allows you to obtain Public Liability insurance so you can start offering treatments to paying clients and work from home or mobile. This will also enable you to purchase products/tools from a number of beauty wholesale suppliers.
Should you require a printed copy of your certificate, please email our Bookings Team to receive a Diploma Request Form which must be submitted by email. There is a fee of £10 per certificate. The format is the same as your emailed diploma so you may prefer to print at home for convenience.
If you are completing a qualification (VTCT or City & Guilds), you will receive your awarding body certificate following successful completion of all coursework and assessment days. This will be claimed and posted to you within 6-10 weeks of completing your practical assessment days (once received from the awarding body). BABTAC accredited unit certificates are claimed only once all training and coursework has been confirmed as completed and are posted within 4 weeks of completing your course (once received from BABTAC).
Following training, students should begin practising treatments as soon as possible while the knowledge and skills are freshly learnt. Students are recommended to ensure they put public liability insurance in place before taking on paying clients. Students are advised to refer to the practical training notes provided with the booking confirmation email following training to refresh your knowledge and assist you with the treatment routines etc. Students are welcome to contact the Support Team with any questions. Should you be unable to practice your skills and/or require additional training at a later stage, please note additional fees apply per training day required.
Students of The Beauty Academy enrolled upon a qualification with an enrolment period of 12 months (e.g. VTCT & BABTAC qualifications) are eligible to apply for an NUS Extra card. Details can be found here
