The Electrical Facial

How much do you know aboutthe Electrical Facial? It may sound painful, but it isn’t, and in fact it’s one ofthe best treatments to combat ageing. Experts from The Beauty Academyexplore the benefits of this type of treatment.

The electrical facialis a non-invasive, pain-free treatment that uses a two-prongeddevice to deliver electrical current to the skin – it’s the only aesthetictreatment available that can physically firm and tone the skin through musclere-education. The amount of electricity delivered is safe – it matches thebody’s own natural current and works in harmony with the body.

How does it work?

Cosmetic electrotherapy or electric facial uses lowelectric currents passed through the skin to produce therapeutic effects, through toning of facial muscles and micro-lifting of the face.

It is considered to be a facial ‘sculpting’procedure without causing injury to the dermis. Electrical facials seem to beuniquely effective in rebuilding thinner parts of the skin, filling in wrinklesand lifting sagging muscles because of its ability to regenerate tissue bystimulating cellular physiology and growth.

What it is good for

An Electrical facial treatment has a wide range of positive benefits. Itcan postpone early signs of ageing, improve the appearance of the skin anderase minor sun damage, scarring and pigmentation.

Electrical facials help tone and tighten themuscles over a short period of time and may prevent many signs of the ageingprocess such as wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin from forming.

There are varying types of electrical facialincluding: High Frequency, Galvanic, Micro Current and Vacuum Suction.

HighFrequency

Highfrequency is great for acne, blemished and congested skin, but it is also goodfor mature or aging skin as it has a tightening effect on the skin, so can beused as an anti-aging treatment. High frequency uses a specialised oxidising cream, which kills bacteriaso it is very effective on acne prone skin, yet it is gentle enough for hypersensitive skin. It is ideal to help improve the condition of oily areas such asthe T-zone on the face, or blemished skin on the back. It also improves theskin texture.

Galvanic

TheGalvanic treatment is often applied using a roller over the skin with theapplication of specialised gels/serums or ampoules. It is very successful andextremely popular as it has proven to show excellent results.”

Galvanic equipment makes use of two probes: one with apositive charge and the other with a negative charge. The positive charge, usedwith acid based serums, helps tighten pores and reduce inflammation. Thenegative charge, often used with alkaline serums, helps increase blood flow andstimulate nerves. Galvanic equipment is sold for at-home beauty treatments.

Microcurrent

Microcurrent treatment is designed to soften fine lines and wrinkles, thereforebalancing and lifting the contours of the face. The treatment is best deliveredover a course of 10-12 treatments and it exercises your muscles with little orno sensation felt. It also increases circulation and all the natural processesare speeded up. This gives healthier cells in the skin and muscles producing atighter contour and improved complexion.

VacuumSuction

Vacuumsuction is ideal for sluggish skin, dark circles and bags or puffinessunder the eyes. Vacuum suction improves the lymphatic drainage of facial skinand removes the build-up of toxins in the skin improving blood circulation, bringing fresh nutrients and oxygenated fresh blood to skin ultimatelyimproving the appearance of the skin resulting in giving skin a youthful rosyglow.

What to expect

While some practices may differ slightly, the electricalfacial procedure usually begins with a facial cleansing and the application ofa collagen-based solution.

The skincare professional then places aset of contact wands over various acupressure points around the face. There are32 different muscles of the face that are manipulated during the electricalfacial.

As the contact wands deliver the electricalcurrent, the face and neck are then gently stroked in specific motions to tonethe muscles, firm the skin and ionize nutrients deep into the cells of theskin, aiding in the stimulation of muscles and skin cells. The mild pulsatingcurrent stimulates and strengthens facial muscles, which improveselasticity and increases circulation.

Things tokeep in mind

Depending on your needs, you may begin with aminimum of 2 treatments a week, and continue the treatments until the resultsare achieved, then follow up once every three weeks to keep those muscles inplace and you looking years younger.

Electrical facials work particularly well withthinner tissue layers, but most adequately-hydrated skin will respond to thetechnique. People who schedule an electrical facial should drink plenty ofwater before going in for the treatment, because proper hydration makes a majordifference in the effectiveness of the therapy.

Other than that, there is no additional preparationneeded and no recovery time required, making it a convenient alternative to amore invasive surgical procedure.

Had an amazing 5 days with Vanessa and the 5 girls I was working with in the professional makeup. Vanessa gave her full support in the style of makeup I liked to follow. Vanessa has also taught me that everyone make mistakes and ways to fix makeup if something was to go wrong. Thank you for a great time and I will be back to visit in the future when I want to extend my business ideas further.
