Can I get insurance with The Beauty Academy Diploma?

Yes, all of our courses are recognised by:-

Many beauty salons also recognise our diploma and even send their own therapists to us for further training.

Why are the courses so much shorter than at colleges of further education?

We provide short intensive training in small groups (maximum of four to six students per tutor). The first part of the course covers essential theory but most of the training is practical where students are able to perform the treatments on each other.

For those wishing to go on to achieve a NVQ/City & Guilds qualification such as NVQ courses in beauty, NVQ courses in nails, or Diploma courses in nails and beauty a home-study route is available for the majority of our courses.

How can I book and pay for my course?

Our courses are available to book on-line via our website (payment in full required at time of booking).  Bookings can also be made over the phone using a credit or debit card.  Depending on the start date of the course, you can either pay in full at the time of booking or a part-payment can be paid (phone bookings only) as follows:-

Individual courses £100
Combination courses of 2-5 days £200
Combination courses of 6 days plus £400

The balance is then due 14 days before commencement of the course.

For NVQ Part and Full-Time Routes: a £500 payment is required, with the balance due six weeks before the commencement of the course.

What are the course times?

All our one day courses start promptly at 10.00am and finish at approximately 4.00pm with a short break for lunch.

Late arrival is extremely disruptive to other students.  If you arrive late (in excess of 30 minutes) you will be unable to participate in the training, resultng in the loss of course fees.  Please therefore ensure you allow sufficient time for travelling.

Can I cancel or transfer my course?

Course payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Failure to attend a confirmed course will result in the loss of all payments made for that course.

In the event of a genuine reason for cancellation (proof of which may be required), a request for transfer will be considered at the discretion of The Beauty Academy. If successful, an administration fee of £50 per course will be charged.

The Beauty Academy is unable to offer refunds for cancellations outside of our control, ie. adverse weather conditinos, terrorist attacks, flooding or industrial action.

A minimum of two students is required to run a course. The Beauty Academy will endeavour to give students at least 24 hours notice of any cancellation.

The Academy is not responsible for any accommodation/travelling costs students may incur due to the cancellation of courses.

Do I need to buy a starter kit to do the training?

No, equipment and products are provided for you to train with on the day.

Starter kits are available for our students to purchase at wholesale prices. The kits contain sufficient product for you to recoup the cost of your training.

Why should I enter for the qualifications?

Some local authorities now require the qualifications for licence purposes. Qualifications are evidence of your professionalism and that you take your occupation seriously. By doing the training course you are halfway to completing your qualifications anyway, so you may as well register for them!

What is the difference between an NVQ and City & Guilds?

Generally, NVQ is regarded as a national qualification whereas City and Guilds is internationally recognised. Some employers may favour a particular qualification however both require similar amounts of study and work.

How much extra will it cost to do the qualifications?

NVQs can only be obtrained by taking one of our packages.  City & Guilds qualifications can be obtained either as a package or in individual subjects for an additional charge of  £150.00 - this covers registration and one assessment fee.  Should additional assessments be required, a £50.00 fee will apply.

How can I achieve my qualification via the home-study route?

You must register for the qualification within 12 weeks of completing your diploma training course. After your training you will be sent your theory work for completion. You will also be required to carry out treatments from home (10-12 treatments for each unit being studied). The treatments will need to be kept in a folder as this is required as evidence when you attend for your assessment.

Once you have completed all of the assignments/studying and your portfolio of treatments, you will be invited back to The Beauty Academy for an assessment which will include both written and practical exams.

How long will it take to get my qualifications via the home-study route?

Everyone is different however the guidelines are 12-20 weeks. Once you have registered, you have two years to complete the qualification.

What are the part and full-time routes?

An intensive programme designed for students requiring an 'industry-ready' qualification in the shortest possible time.  Students receive considerably more practical training under the close guidance of an experienced tutor. Full details can be found on the NVQ pages of this website.
